Cosmic Egg Creation Myth Ancient Egypt

Cosmic Egg Creation Myth Ancient Egypt #Shorts #minidocumentary

The cosmic egg motif is a major symbol in creation myths, occurring in all parts of the world. Ancient Egyptians saw the cosmic egg as the soul of the primeval waters out of which creation arose.

In one story the sun god emerged from the primeval mound, itself a version of the cosmic egg resting in the original sea. In a depiction from the Book of the Dead one can see that the sun rises over the circular mound of creation as goddesses pour out the primeval waters around it.

One can see two twin deities watering the creation egg. What is interesting is that the picture resembles the metaphase of a zygote division. The lines in the middle resemble the DNA-splitting process in the division of the cell. The small creatures could be the enzymes involved in DNA splitting. We all agree that ancient Egyptians did not know about double-spiraled DNA.

However, in an ancient Chinese creation myth, one can see two snakes similar to the double-spiraled Watson and Crick DNA model.
