How Queen Amanirenas defeated the Roman Empire

Amanirenas (also spelled Amanirena) was a fierce queen or Kandake of the Kush Kingdom located in current Sudan and Egypt and was contemporary with Cleopatra. She was the queen of the Kingdom of Kush from 40 BC to 10 BC.

She is Remembered as a fierce warrior and strong leader of the Kush Kingdom.

Amanirenas showed bravery in battle and led vast troops from the front lines.

When The Roman Empire under Octavian Augustus tried to Invade Kush, she and her army fought against the invaders from 27 BC to 22 BC.

She lost an eye, her husband, and her son in battle.

She was a great female archer and so were her warriors.

Amanirenas removed the bronze statue head of Caesar Augustus and buried it after victory in a battle against Roman Empire. She is depicted having two swords and feeding her lions with her enemies. The bronze head of Octavian Augustus was rediscovered in 1912 and because it was buried it is very well preserved.  Strabo described her as the  “fierce one-eyed queen Candace”.

After 5 years of war with the Roman Empire, she made a peace agreement with them and remained undefeated.
