The Nubian tribute to Tutankhamun

One of the most interesting tombs discovered in ancient Egypt is the tomb of Amenhotep nicknamed Huy.

This tomb has many interesting paintings, and one is showing the grand arrival of the Nubian tribute to Tutankhamun and Huy…  Huy was appointed viceroy of Kush by Tutankhamun.

This painting depicts in four registers how the great ones of Nubia bring tribute and worship the pharaoh and Huy. These dignitaries from Kush have rings in their ears and feathered headbands.

They bring gold, animals, and ivory to Tutankhamun. They bring furniture such as chairs and headrests similar to those from the Tutankhamun burial site. One can see the pharaoh’s image which is depicted as a giant, was damaged by people who tried to erase him most likely.

We can still notice how he looked like though. We know it is Tutankhamun because we see his name in the two cartouches one for Nebkheperre and one for Tutankhamun. In the last register, we see Egyptian dignitaries, showing their respect to king Tut.

One can see Nubians’ and Egyptians’ attire and behavior. And that is why one of the most interesting tombs discovered in ancient Egypt is the tomb
