Where is the fortune of the last great Aztec leader? Has it already been found? Montezuma’s treasure is said to have disappeared in one night. Moctezuma Xocoyotzin asked Hernan Cortez to take three of his children to Spain: Tohualicahualtzin, Telicuarzin, and Xipaguazin later baptized to Pierre, Elizabeth, and Maria.
During the trip to Spain, His daughter Maria Xipaguazin, fell in love with the captain of the ship Joan IV Grau y Rib baron Toloriu. She spent the rest of her life in the Pyrenees mountains where she died, she was buried in the Santa Maria church with her belongings. That led to speculations that some of the Montezuma’s treasure ended up in Spain. Many still believe the lost treasure of the Inca is still in Toloriu. Many people looked for the treasure in this small town, but nothing was found. In 2019 Moctezuma’s descendant met with Hernan Cortez’s descendant, who apologized for his ancestors’ actions. Both talked cordially to each other and celebrated 500 years from the first encounter with the Aztec empire and Spanish conquistadors.
