Amazing Real Estate in Pompeii


Pompeii was an ancient city located in Roman Empire. Pompeii, along with many villas in the surrounding area, was buried under 4 to 6 m of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.

Largely preserved under the ash, the excavated city offered a unique snapshot of Roman life, frozen at the moment it was buried. It was a wealthy town, enjoying many fine public buildings and luxurious private houses with lavish decorations, furnishings, and works of art.

Organic remains, including wooden objects and human bodies, were entombed in the ash, and decayed, leaving voids used as molds to make plaster casts of roman figures in their final moments of life. The real estate from Pompeii was outstanding with luxurious villas, gardens, paintings, mosaics, and fine art.   The most renowned is the House of the Faun which was a mansion.

The most remarkable piece of art there is the Alexander Mosaic, also known as the Battle of Issus Mosaic on a 20-square meter floor. It depicts a battle between the armies of Alexander the Great and Darius III of Persia. So
