HOMO FLORESIENSIS AMAZING CONTROVERSIES

CONTROVERSIES ABOUT HOMO FLORESIENSIS

Homo Floresiensis is a hominid discovered in the island of Flores Indonesia.

No complete skeleton was found, only a skull and other parts from nine individuals were found.

Why only in that cave?

It was believed to be 12,000 years old. He was discovered in The Cave Liang Bua.

Also, tools were found and dated 190 K years ago. He was established to be 200K years old, but the tools could have been from other hominids.

Was he a pygmy?

He is related to Homo habilis and this created a mystery because Homo Habilis is extinct from 1,6 million years ago.

His fossils were taken by Professor Teuku Jacob from Indonesia for three months after discovered an when he returned him, they were altered. He claimed they were damaged during transportation.

Especially his pelvis was damaged, so the bipedal station is questionable now. He was very small 1 meter or three feet tall.

How an only specimen generated a new species? Was he a diseased individual?

He was believed he was a child, or he had a bone disease, nanism or Laron syndrome, Down syndrome, microcephalia or endemic cretinism but now it is considered to be an adult. The specimens are not fossilized and have the consistency of wet blotting paper.

He was the smallest hominid ever found and he was thought to be a pygmy or something abnormal. He is still controversial. The Tolkien Estate forbidden naming him as “hobbit”.
