Was Nefertiti a Black Queen? Nefertiti was a true beauty who changed the way people looked with respect to beauty and fashion during her time.
Nefertiti is not only well-known for being the wife of King Akhenaten, but also for her unique beauty. Queen Nefertiti was depicted on the walls of the temple at Tel el-Amarna as having dark-brown skin and hair with braids. Nefertiti was a beautiful black woman.
She was the wife of Akhenaten and had significant political influence. At the end of his reign, Akhenaten shared his regency with Smenkhkare, a mysterious Pharaoh, possibly half-brother of Tutankhamun. Some scholars felt that Nefertiti herself assumed the role of a co-regent Pharaoh under the name of Smenkhkare.
When Akhenaten died, Neferteetee was regent for Tutankhamun under the name of Neferneferuaten. Many of her paintings and names were erased on temples at Amarna and overwritten with Meritaten. Both were wearing braided hair and looked African in portraits we still have. And the question still remains.
