Nitocris was a less known pharaoh of the VI th dynasty. Her historicity is questioned and she could be more like a legend character. She is mentioned by Herodotus , Manetho and Royal Papyrus of of Turin.
She ruled nearly 4200 years ago. Here is her story. She became pharaoh after her brother had been killed by some influential Egyptians who were trying to undermine the throne.
Apparently, she had another brother that was similarly killed. She ruled for a brief period of time.
Manatho credited her with building of the third pyramid at Gizeh but this is under debate.
After some years she invited the Egyptians higher ups to a feast. They were inaugurating an underground banquet room that Nitocris had built especially for this event.
While her guests who were involved in her brother assassination were partying, Nitocris disappeared. She then opened a secret duct and flooded the banquet room drowning her guests by redirecting Nile waters into the room.
After that Nitocris ended her life by darting into a chamber of hot ashes. Nitocris has committed suicide to avoid any trouble with other conspirators and did that possibly by running into a burning room.
The only evidence for Nitocris existence were from Herodotus, Manetho and the Royal Papyrus of Turin.
