A very important chapter in military history is the history of the Sikh Empire and the Khalsa army.

The Sikhs legacy was kept throughout centuries and demonstrated repeatedly their determination, pride, and military success. Statistically, they had more victories throughout their battles, and they demonstrated on numerous occasions that they can win even if caught in difficult situations or even if significantly outnumbered. Remarkable are Guru Hargobind’s military skills, who once fought a battle called the Battle of Kartarpur in which 1,800 untrained Sikhs fought 52,000 well-trained imperial forces and only 700 Sikhs died while 50,000 imperial forces died. His legacy as a brilliant military commander lives on in the Sikh community. Also memorable are other battles like the battle of Lahira with 4,000 Sikhs vs 35,000 Mughal Empire forces, the battle of Hargobindpur or Rohilla with 1,200 Sikhs vs 10,000 Mughals and the first the Battle of Amritsar of 1634, with 700 Sikhs vs 7,000 Mughals. Sacrifices of Sikh soldiers in their efforts to keep their beliefs, rights, and freedom will be remembered forever by generations.
