The Petrossa Treasure was discovered in 1837 by two peasants playing on a hill. They sold the treasure to a certain Verussi who disassembled the pieces because they would not fit in boxes. When police came by some pieces were lost already. It was the biggest treasure ever found and remained the biggest until 1922 when Tutankhamun treasure was discovered.

The column is famous for its spiral relief which depicts the wars between Romans and Dacians from 101 to 102 AD and 105 to 106 AD. It was a part of Trajan’s Forum, an esplanade commemorating Trajan’s campaigns and glory.

According to genesis Book Babel tower was built using asphalt and bricks in place of mortar. Archeologists discovered bricks and asphalt in Babylon dating from Nebuchadnezzar time and these could be remnants from the Babel tower.
