Artemis was the goddess of nature and fertility. She had a temple build in 550 BC by Theodoros from Samos. Before it was finished , it was damaged by a fire, construction was stopped due to warfare and it was finished in 220 years. After completion it was put on fire by a guy looking for fame through arson (Herostratus).

Work started around 5400 years before and the final changes to construction were made about 1500 BC.
