What if I told you An iron-bladed dagger made from a meteorite was discovered in 1925 in the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s tomb?
Tutankhamun’s meteoric iron dagger, also known as Tutankhamun’s iron dagger and King Tut’s dagger, is an iron-bladed dagger discovered during 1925 in the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun‘s 14th century BC King’s Valley tomb by archaeologist Howard Carter. As the blade composition and homogeneity closely correlate with meteorite composition and homogeneity, the material for the blade is determined to have originated by way of a meteoritic landing. The dagger is currently displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
Since the 1960s, the high nickel content in the blade has been accepted as indicative of meteoric origin. A recent study published in June 2016 shows that the blade’s composition is mostly iron and nickel and cobalt .
No iron smelting was available
No Egyptian archaeological evidence exists of iron smelting until the 6th century BC. At the time of King Tutankhamun’s mummification in approximately 1323 BC (during the Bronze Age), iron smelting and manufacture was rare and surely not done in Egypt. The earliest evidence for ironmaking on Earth is dated to 2000 BCE but not in Egypt. Iron must be extracted from its mineral through smelting.
The high nickel content in the blade has been accepted as indicative of meteoric origin. The composition is placed within the median of a group of 76 previously discovered iron meteorites. It was discovered during 1925 in the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s 14th century BC tomb. No Egyptian archaeological evidence exists of iron smelting until the 6th century BC. The earliest known example of the use of metallic iron in Egypt dates to 3400 BC. In 2013, a single bead from the Manchester Museum was photographed, subjected to a scanning electron microscope.
CT scan of the dagger
CT scan of the dagger was conducted. The results indicated the beads’ micro-structures and composition were consistent with that of an iron meteorite.
We believe the dagger is coming from a different world, most likely made from iron meteorite and it was given as a royal gift by a different king to Tutankhamun. From what world was this king coming from is a mystery. Could it be that the dagger was manufactured in another world and the forementioned meteorite did not reach Earth?
Why was Tutankhamun taking this dagger with his dearest items and treasures in his afterlife? Was he expecting to meet this alien king when resurrected to life? And…
