The Al Naslaa rock formation, found in Saudi Arabia, is one of Earth’s greatest mysteries.
The Al Naslaa rock is a landform 50 km south of the Tayma oasis in Saudi Arabia. It is split down the middle into two parts and many believed it was cut by a laser from a more advanced technological civilization.
The overall shape of the rock may be due to wind erosion and chemical weathering that could have been possible due to the moist conditions in the protected underside of the rock. It is split in two by what could be a joint. A joint is a fracture in a layer or body of rock produced by tensile stress such as water freezing, dilating, and then melting and freezing again. Nobody can understand how such a perfect cut can exist in the middle of the rock, it remains a matter of debate among scientists.
One geologist suggests that the split may be caused by weathering (melting ice), but not everyone agrees on this. It is so precise and smooth that made people think it must have been the result of aliens who came to earth in the distant past and used a giant laser to cut it in two. What do you guys think?
